Tacos Are Better is a brand and online store operated from the United States. Contact: [email protected]. The data controller for the purposes of GDPR is the operator of this email address.
Tacos Are Better is a brand site with a championship premise and a vote mechanic. The vote is a satirical brand feature and is not a survey, poll, or measurement of public opinion. It is styled as a running scoreboard and is intentionally tilted in favor of tacos. Nothing on this site represents the vote counts as scientific, independent, verified, or audited.
A random identifier is stored in your browser's local storage under the key tab_voter_state. It records your current vote session so the site can apply the vote-limit arc. This identifier contains no name, email, IP address, or device information. It is readable only by this site.
When you vote, the site records a row in a database containing: which challenger you voted on, which side you chose, and the time of the vote. This row is not linked to you or your browser. Vote data is aggregate-only and cannot be deleted on a per-user basis because there is no "user" to identify.
If you are visiting from outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a separate random identifier may be stored under the key tab_analytics_id, and the site records events such as: clicks on challenger cards, clicks on product cards, clicks on navigation, and the submission of the email capture form. The identifier is random and contains no personal information. We do not store your IP address, user agent, or browser fingerprint in our own systems.
If you are visiting from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, the site will ask for your consent before storing tab_analytics_id or recording any of these events. If you decline, no analytics identifier is set and no events are recorded.
If you submit your email, we store the address and a timestamp for the purpose of sending you updates about the site, product drops, and related news. We do not share this list.
This site does not use tracking cookies. The local-storage keys named above (tab_voter_state, tab_analytics_id, and tab_consent_state) are the only persistent identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or analytics beacons. If this ever changes, this policy will be updated before they are deployed, and the change will be announced in the footer.
If you grant consent to analytics, your decision is carried forward across return visits without re-prompting, for up to 90 days from the original grant. This avoids showing you the same banner on every visit while you are an active returning user.
After the 90-day horizon, or if you have not visited the site in the last 7 days, we ask you again. You can change your decision at any time from the "Change your data choice" link on this page.
The technical mechanism is a short-lived signed token (24 hours) that is silently re-issued on your next page load, capped at the 90-day horizon above. Renewal is recorded in our audit log without any identifier so we can prove consent was renewed and not fabricated.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Your data is processed by:
That is the full list. No advertising networks, no data brokers, no third-party analytics.

If the data flow changes — for example, if we add an analytics pixel, a chat widget, or a third-party tag — we will update this policy before the change goes live and note the update in the footer for at least 30 days.
